This pattern is for a small football (soccer ball) sized Knitted Globe. It’s very detailed, making it also perfect as an educational toy.
The pattern starts at the south pole and is worked in the round up to the north pole.
My Large Knitted Globe Pattern is my most detailed knitted globe pattern out of all three of my globe patterns, the other two are my Mini Knitted Globe and Medium Knitted Globe.
I love making earths and I was determined to find a function for it, other than a ball.
So yes, it can be an epic functional doorstop.
All you have to do is put something weighted – like polly pellets or a bag of dry rice or stones in the bottom and then fill the rest with fibrefill stuffing.
The advantage of most of it being full of fibrefill is that if you accidentally kick it, it won’t hurt!

Stylecraft Special DK (8 Py); 295 m (323 yards) per 100g; 100% acrylic
50g / 118 m / 162 yards in Turquoise (B)
30g / 89 m / 97 yards in Lime (G)
10g / 30 m / 32 yards in White (W)
13 sts x 18 rows = 5 x 5 cm (2 x 2 in) over St st using 3 mm (US 2.5) needles or size needed to obtain stated gauge
One size: 16 cm (6.2in) diameter
Pick Up Left (PUL) Increase
Use your left needle to pick up the left side of stitch that is two stitches below the stitch on the right needle. Slip this stitch onto your left needle. Knit it through the back of the loop. Also known as a Left Lifted Increase. (See blog post)
Pick Up Right (PUR) Increase
Use your right needle to pick up the stitch that is one stitch below the stitch on the left needle, lift this stitch and slip it onto the left needle. Knit it through the front of the loop. Also known as a Right Lifted Increase. (See blog post)
B1: With Blue, knit 1
B2tog: With Blue, knit two stitches together
G1: With Green, knit 1
G2tog: With Green, knit two stitches together
PUL: Pick Up Left / Left Lifted Increase
PUR: Pick Up Right / Right Lifted Increase

This Knitted Globe Pattern the most accurate and detailed simply because it is the largest and I was able to use more stitches to add in the detail.
I love the detail of this knitted earth, just look at Europe!
I’m from Northern Ireland, so it was pretty awesome to get a stitch in there for the Island that I am from.
I was born on the Falkland Islands and I was actually able to fit it in too! It’s just at the bottom of South America.
